How do Optical Glass Domes Protect Sensitive Equipment or Components?

图片
In the world of sensitive equipment and components, protecting them from external elements and potential damage is of utmost importance. One of the reliable and efficient solutions for safeguarding sensitive equipment is through the use of optical glass domes. These domes offer a combination of optical clarity, durability, and protection, making them an ideal choice for various applications. In this article, we will delve into the functionality and benefits of   optical glass dome , explaining how they effectively protect sensitive equipment or components. The Importance of Protecting Sensitive Equipment Sensitive equipment or components often require protection from environmental factors such as dust, moisture, and physical impact. These elements can compromise the performance and integrity of the equipment, leading to operational issues, reduced lifespan, or even complete failure. Therefore, it is crucial to provide a secure barrier that shields the equipment while maintaining th...

Types of Optical Domes: A Comprehensive Guide

图片
Optical domes   come in various shapes and materials, each designed to meet specific requirements and application needs. These specialized components play a crucial role in protecting optical systems while maintaining optical performance. In this article, we will explore the different types of optical domes, their unique features, and their suitability for various applications. Spherical Domes: Spherical domes  are the most common type of optical domes. They have a shape similar to a segment of a sphere and provide a wide field of view. Spherical domes offer excellent optical clarity and minimal distortion, making them suitable for imaging and sensing applications. They can be manufactured using materials such as optical glass or optical-grade polymers, depending on the desired properties and application requirements. Hemispherical Domes: Hemispherical domes have a half-sphere shape and are widely used in applications that require a broad field of view and protection against e...

Silicon windows and Silicon lenses for Infra-Red Imaging Systems

图片
Silicon windows and Silicon lenses for Infra-Red Imaging Systems PRODUCT DESCRIPTION IR Optical Lenses Infrared lenses are lens assemblies optimized for light processing in the infrared region, including near-infrared, short-wave infrared, mid-wave infrared, and long-wave infrared. IR lenses are optical lenses that use specific substrates or anti-reflective coatings to maximize performance for applications above 700nm including thermal imaging, FLIR or spectroscopy. The single crystal of silicon used in semiconductors has low absorption in the infrared wavelength of 1.2 - 7μm and it can be used as an optical element of infrared light.  Silicon  (Si) is a hard material and has good transmission in the IR bank, it is a good choice to make windows to protect other elements of lens systems. Silicon optics  are used in a variety of infrared applications operating in the 1.2 - 7μm wavelength range, including near infrared imaging or infrared spectroscopy. Silicon's low densit...

Differences between Plano-Concave and Plano-Convex Lenses

图片
Lenses are a crucial component in various optical devices, including cameras, telescopes, and microscopes. They manipulate light and help to focus it onto a specific point, allowing for clear and precise imaging. Two of the most commonly used lenses are plano-concave and   plano-convex lenses . This article will explain what these lenses are, their applications, and the differences between them. Plano-concave lenses  have one flat surface and one concave surface. The curved surface curves inwards, causing the lens to diverge incoming light rays. This divergence results in a virtual image formed behind the lens. Plano-concave lenses are commonly used in optical systems where the primary goal is to reduce the image size or produce a virtual image. They are used in microscopes, telescopes, and projectors to magnify and reduce image size. Plano-convex lenses, on the other hand, have one flat surface and one convex surface. The convex surface curves outwards, causing the lens to co...

Exploring the Unique Features and Applications of Plano-Concave and Plano-Convex Lenses

图片
Lenses are a critical component of many optical systems, and they come in various shapes and sizes. Two of the most commonly used lenses are plano-concave and plano-convex lenses. While these lenses may look similar at first glance, they have unique characteristics that make them suitable for different applications. This article will explore the features and applications of plano-concave and plano-convex lenses. Plano-concave lenses  have a flat surface on one side and a concave surface on the other. The curved surface curves inward, causing the lens to diverge incoming light rays. This divergence results in a virtual image formed behind the lens. Plano-concave lenses are often used in optical systems where the primary goal is to reduce the size of an image. For example, in a projector, a plano-concave lens is used to diverge the light rays from the bulb, which are then focused through a converging lens to form a larger image on the screen. Plano-convex lenses, on the other hand, h...

Aspheric lenses for terahertz imaging

图片
We present novel designs for aspheric lenses used in   terahertz (THz) imaging . As different surfaces result in different beam shaping properties and in different losses from reflection and absorption, the resultant imaging resolution (i.e. the focal spot size) depends critically on the design approach. We evaluate the different lens designs using Kirchhoff’s scalar diffraction theory, and test the predictions experimentally. We also show that our lenses can achieve sub-wavelength resolution. While our lens designs are tested with THz radiation, the design considerations are applicable also to other regions of the electro-magnetic spectrum.   1. Developments in the terahertz (THz) region Over recent years there have been many  new developments in the terahertz (THz) region . Techniques such as spectroscopy, package inspection, biological investigation etc advanced considerably. Most research is centered around high power emitters, quantum cascade lasers, and improving de...

A Brief Look at Spherical, Aspheric and Double Aspheric Lenses

图片
When it comes to lens design, many people may be confused. But when it comes to the well-known spherical and aspheric lenses, you will be familiar with them. What are the lens designs you know? What are their characteristics? Is it suitable for you?   The main lens designs on the market today are spherical lenses, single aspheric lenses and double aspheric lenses. In the early years,  spherical lenses  accounted for a large proportion of the lens market share. Now aspheric lenses have been recognized by the majority of eyewear consumers, and today we see a much higher prevalence of aspheric lenses than spherical lenses in the lens market. But there are still many consumers who do not have a thorough enough understanding of spherical and aspheric lenses, so today we will once again talk to you in detail about the differences.   What is the spherical lens? A spherical lens is a lens that has a spherical surface on both the inside and outside of the lens, or one side is...
